Dallas - March 23, 2010 - Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas (CCCS of Greater Dallas), a nonprofit provider of free housing and credit counseling and education, announces it has received a donation of 60 copies of Good Morning America consumer correspondent Elisabeth Leamy's SAVE BIG.

The book teaches consumers how to make easy, painless tweaks that can save them thousands of dollars on houses, cars, groceries and healthcare. The book also features several chapters about how protecting and promoting your good credit brings the biggest savings of all, which aligns with CCCS of Greater Dallas' mission.

"I wrote SAVE BIG in a record three months because I wanted to get it into people's hands during this tricky economy," Leamy said. "Now, more than ever, people need help saving money. I write about more than 100 easy, money-saving strategies in SAVE BIG. Every strategy has the potential to save consumers at least a thousand dollars - anything less didn't make the cut. These big savings can change people's lives."

"We are very thankful for this generous donation of nearly $1,500, and appreciate the work Elisabeth is doing to educate consumers on new ways to save money," said Todd Mark, vice president of education for CCCS of Greater Dallas. "We will distribute these books to consumers in our education and credit counseling programs to help them find ways to save more in their major life expenses."

Through her years of research, Leamy has identified areas where people spend BIG and says that's where they can save BIG. She has conducted a number of savings makeovers for families throughout the nation and aired them on Good Morning America. For example, Leamy found $47,000 in savings for a Maryland couple and $189,000 in savings for a Virginia family.

"I'm so pleased to donate 60 copies of my book, SAVE BIG, to CCCS of Greater Dallas," Leamy said. "As I confess in the book, I used to have credit card debt myself, so I know the value CCCS provides. It's the preeminent debt counseling service in the country, with a caring, competent team that gets people's finances back on track. The work they do is so important -- especially now -- and I'm delighted to play a part in helping CCCS of Greater Dallas educate consumers about smart ways to manage their money."

CCCS of Greater Dallas will use the books to help consumers in the communities it serves throughout North Texas, New Mexico Colorado and Oklahoma. The nonprofit agency offers free budget and credit counseling, as well as a number of free classes to educate consumers on increasing their financial stability, including a class focused on surviving the recession. Consumers can learn more about ways to get out of debt and update their families' budgets by visiting www.cccs.net or calling a CCCS counselor at 1-800-249-2227.
